in college, Mary worked as a student chaplain but after graduation she pursued her dream of becoming a Lutheran minister. Ten years into her ministry work, Mary had a bad experience and felt betrayed, causing her to leave her ministry and her faith. A friend suggested she pursue an open chaplaincy position at the local hospice in Portland, Ore. Mary quickly realized working as a hospice chaplain was a perfect fit for her gifts.
